Comic book illustrator & creator Liana Kangas<\/a> took time from her fans at the GalaxyCon 2025 in Columbus to discuss her creative journey and recent projects. Best known for the Hugo-longlisted sci-fi thriller Know Your Station<\/a><\/em>, True Cult<\/em>, She Said Destroy<\/em>, and contributions to major franchises such as Star Wars, Archie, and Star Trek, <\/em>Kangas’ career has spanned genres and media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her latest achievement includes an Eisner Award-winning co-created story in IDW’s Godzilla\u2019s 70th Anniversary anthology<\/a>, in which she explores themes of protecting marginalized communities and features Mothra as a protector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kangas credits her early experiences at local comic shops for her love of manga and anime. She has also been influenced by advice from industry legend Mike Mignola: \u201c<\/em>Draw something you want to draw for yourself, not for the market.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
