Improv guests go wild

My guests on Craft for September 4 will be Nate Varrone and Dan White, two recent OSU graduates living in Chicago and performing improv whenever possible. As students at OSU, they were part of the OSU improv scene and I interviewed them for Writers Talk and worked with them on a Christmas special – one of the darkest holiday specials ever aired on WCBE. But it was funny.

Scary.

But funny.

Anyway, they’ll be on next week, so tune in to see if they can create a sketch on the spot that features the words “cider” and “pop top.” It’s sure to be creative.

Alan Lomaxs Massive Archive Goes Online : The Record : NPR

There’s a commercial running right now about how we’re recording the world digitally. While this is certainly true, I wonder what we’re recording and what will happen to it all. Alan Lomax made it his life’s work to record the folk music he loved. May your recordings be as durable and valuable: Alan Lomaxs Massive Archive Goes Online : The Record : NPR.

Six String Concerts

There are some great folks coming to town with the Six String Concerts this season. Check out their line up at Six String Concerts. I’ve interviewed several of this year’s line up and they were great. And – wow!- what can I say about Dar Williams? Her cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” is awesome:  Check it out.
