I interviewed Tess Gerritsen a while back and she was an excellent person to talk to, as well as a very interesting writer. Check out her Westerville Library Facebook chat on September 4.

Here’s the infamous “Naked Nate” sketch from this week’s guests Dan White and Nate Varrone.
Warning: humorous nudity.
The excellent comic book illustrator Neal Adams will be my guest on September 11 at 8 pm on WCBE. Here’s where to catch him in Columbus on September 20-22, plus lots of other great guests. I’ve got my tickets, do you?
Ohio Comic Con ǁ Columbus ǁ Greater Columbus Convention Center ǁ Wizard World Ohio.
My guests on Craft for September 4 will be Nate Varrone and Dan White, two recent OSU graduates living in Chicago and performing improv whenever possible. As students at OSU, they were part of the OSU improv scene and I interviewed them for Writers Talk and worked with them on a Christmas special – one of the darkest holiday specials ever aired on WCBE. But it was funny.
Scary.
But funny.
Anyway, they’ll be on next week, so tune in to see if they can create a sketch on the spot that features the words “cider” and “pop top.” It’s sure to be creative.
There’s a commercial running right now about how we’re recording the world digitally. While this is certainly true, I wonder what we’re recording and what will happen to it all. Alan Lomax made it his life’s work to record the folk music he loved. May your recordings be as durable and valuable: Alan Lomaxs Massive Archive Goes Online : The Record : NPR.
The loss of the creator of great movies and books.
Check out his website and then tune in on Wednesday at 8 pm on WCBE to hear about his trip from Florida to Alaska in a truck/trailer combo along with his wife and two aged dogs.
There are some great folks coming to town with the Six String Concerts this season. Check out their line up at Six String Concerts. I’ve interviewed several of this year’s line up and they were great. And – wow!- what can I say about Dar Williams? Her cover of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” is awesome: Check it out.

So I read a new book, The Troop by Nick Cutter, the other night before I went to bed. It’s a horror novel with lots of gross-out scenes of people being eaten alive by worms, etc. It’s a fast, fun read (if horror fiction is your thing), although aimed at an adult audiences. (At least I hope it’s for adults, given the swearing, etc. But maybe I’m just old.)
Anyway, I had some nightmarish dreams that night, not necessarily, I thought, as a result of the book. But it made me wonder: if you read before bedtime, do you find that the subject matter influences your dreams? If so, leave a comment below.
